We
will pick you up at your hotel and head east crossing the Eastern
Cordillera; (12.464 f.) one of the highest populated points on the
route that descends to the Ecuadorian Amazon Basin. If the weather
is good you will see the Sangay volcano (5,230m / 17,700 ft). After
a two hours drive we will arrive at Papallacta , known for its hot
springs and curative sulfate alkaline thermal waters. Here you have
the chance to relax at one of the many pools of volcanic water at
3.800-m. After the hot springs we will make short walks around in
the area to see the local flora, characterized by the polylepis
("paper tree"), unique for the unusual texture of its
bark. We will eat lunch at the resort. And return to Quito in the
afternoon.
